My father left his country with a suitcase and a hope. He crossed a border, rebuilt a life, learned a new language, adapted his habits, his gestures, his words. But he never forgot where he came from. And he passed both on to me — the country he had left, and the one he had chosen.

My wife grew up the same way. Between two cultures that coexist without ever fully merging. Two versions of herself depending on the context. That strange richness you sometimes carry like a burden, before you learn to carry it like pride.

One evening, watching a match together, she saw me hesitate between two jerseys lying on the sofa. She smiled. She said: why not both?
